General guidelines for applicants

Applications will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Individual interest related to the study of Gandhi, King, and social justice
  • Detailed description provided for leadership skills and aspirations
  • Evidence that the applicant is dedicated to the work of the learning experience
  • Evidence as to how the learning experience would impact the current/future classroom of the applicant
  • Applicant represents a diverse background
  • Applicant represents a diverse and/or underserved community

Eligibility Criteria
  • Must be between 18-25 years of age
  • Proficient in English
  • Aspiring to be civic leaders
  • Currently enrolled UA/HBCU undergraduate/graduate students or young professional alumni from UA/HBCU
Grant Benefits
  • Exchange civic rights ideas and improve leadership skills between US and Indian participants
  • Become a part of International Exchange Alumni Network of the ECA
  • Round-trip airfare, housing, and meals covered for the duration of residency period in the US and India
  • Insurance coverage for the duration of both the residency period
  • Travel and transportation fee
